First visit to Italy. Lago di Garda.
I have to say it was my first trip to Italy in my entire life. And I can promise you that you won’t find a better place than the Lago di Garda lake area if you love beautiful nature landscapes. The largest and most majestic lake in Italy, Garda is the diamond of the northern part of the country, located between Milan and Verona. With its huge mountains around the lake, Mediterranean climate and widespread olive groves, this place exudes a unique atmosphere. We’ve stayed in a hotel Albergo Locanda Cavallino – about this place I want to tell you.
Hotel Albergo Locanda Cavallino is on the west side from Lago di Garda lake in the area of city Toscolano-Maderno. During that week in this hotel I all the time had the feeling of a great care of the guests. Maria and Giuliano, owners of a hotel are super kind and shiny people, who just will never leave you unhappy. They do really care about your staying in this family hotel.
Please keep in your mind with your car the small width of the streets – it is typical in Italy. After Germany we are completely forgot about it and rented a big car. Some roads and streets are only for motorcycles, you just wouldn’t fit in.
I personally recommend Albergo Locanda Cavallino hotel for couples and small families. Breakfast is from 7am to 10am (I might be wrong). Maria, owner of Albergo Locanda Cavallino was very kind to us and let us sleep as much as we want. got our breakfast anyway
It was very nice of her, she knew that we were a little tired after the flight and a long trip! An excellent breakfast with excellent coffee, pastries, fresh fruits, delicious juices, cheese and cold cuts – so you can always be sure that you will not leave the hotel hungry.
On the second day I decided to explore the hotel and found an interesting indoor restaurant. It was a little dusty because it was closed for a while. But the next day after the restaurant was full of people, they enjoyed dinner and a nice atmosphere.
It turned out that it is not just a hotel to stay and sleep. Albergo Locanda Cavallino hotel has a very good menu. Here is fresh fish, mussels and other seafood, meat dishes, tartar, soups, pasta and excellent cheese plate with homemade jams. Likewise, don’t forget to order “Vino de la Casa” – a good table wine served usually in the decanter, and it is perfect for a dinner. Of course, there is also a good variety of other wine types for you.
I liked rooms, they are in light neutral beige colours, designed in a classic Italian style and all equipped with AC (we know it’s especially important in hot weather). Everything is quite compact, the hotel Albergo Locanda Cavallino is small at all, there are just a few rooms. That means you will get a lot of attention for you as a guest.
Terrace on a second floor where you can have a small rest, to sit and enjoy a pure morning and fresh air mixed with the scent of the blooming Mediterranean bushes. Every day I delightfully looked on a lake view and how clouds are touching the mountains – incredible feeling! Bikes and umbrellas are free to use. Sometimes there are some rainy days. But the climate of Lago di Garda is close to a mild climate near the sea. Even the rainy weather here is beautiful, refreshing and pleasant to feel.
Moreover, if you are fed up with hikings, sailing on ships, so here for you some events and live music. There are also mini-concerts or comedy shows (in Italian we couldn’t understand a single word, but the atmosphere is great). August’s warm nights in the garden, live Italian music and delicious wine are the perfect end to the day on vacation.
The last morning before we’ve checked out, we got the last breakfast in Albergo Locanda Cavallino before the way home. The weather was cloudy and rainy, and last days of August whispered farewells to the summer.
In conclusion, on the picture you can see two Marias. Just right behind the main bar. Where I saw Maria and Giuliano greeted us every morning with “Buongiorno!”.
Italy you are guilty that I felt in love with your people, nature, food and wine. I will come back!
